I was born in Louisville, Mississippi. My family moved to Aliceville, Alabama in 1958. I graduated from Aliceville High School in 1963. I earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in secondary education from Livingston University with a major in mathematics and a minor in biology. Later, I received a Master’s of Education Degree in school administration from Livingston University.
Teaching experience:
R.J. Kirksey High School – 2 years – mathematics teacher
Aliceville Middle School – 19 years - mathematics teacher, assistant principal, basketball coach
Aliceville High School - 9 years – mathematics teacher, assistant principal, basketball coach
Pickens Academy – 10 years – mathematics teacher, assistant headmaster, basketball and volleyball coach
I have lived in Alabama for 50 years, taught in public schools for 30 years, taught in private schools for 10 years and taught the children of Pickens County for 40 years. As I retire, the most vivid memories are of students that I have seen become successful in life. The most enjoyable moments have been those involving basketball. I have been blessed to coach: 10 Pickens County Junior High basketball championships over a 12 year period (taking two to the state tournament), one junior high boys team to the AISA State Invitational, and two varsity girl’s teams to the AISA FINAL FOUR. I miss coaching basketball. My laat two years at PA have been very difficult because of not being able to coach basketball.
